Conditions of Entry
1.1	This  examination  is  open  to  candidates  with  at  least  one  of the following qualifications and a pass in Bahasa Melayu* in the Sijil  Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/Malaysian Education Certificate examination. a)    SPM of 1999 or the year before b)    SPM (Vocational) c)    Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) d)    Federation of Malaya Certificate of Education e)    Cambridge School Certificate f)     GCE/SAP (Malaysia or Cambridge with three ordinary level passes**  obtained in one examination sitting) g)    For SPM year 2000 until 2008, the candidate has obtained  in one examination sitting:          i)  At least a Grade C6 for three subjects, or          ii) At least Grade C6 in two subjects and a pass in four other subjects
1.2	Candidates having qualifications as listed in 1.1 must obtain these qualifications at least 2 years prior to sitting for the STPM examination.
1.3	Candidates with equivalent SPM qualifications obtained abroad must request for permission from MEC before sitting for the STPM examination .
	Notes: * Candidates who meet criteria (g) but had failed Bahasa Melayu may use the pass in Bahasa Melayu obtained after re-sitting the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination. Candidates from abroad are excluded from this criteria. ** Ordinary GCE/SAP passes are considered as Distinction at SPM/MCE level.
